Research and analysis of the materials and products of furniture that affect the final consumer safety and product security
The main objective of this project is increase the safety of furniture used by consumers, also providing added value to these products, as well as to improve product safety during transportation, minimizing the significant costs of damage during the same.
In our current environment, it is clear that security is a value in rise. The cabinet, as a direct product for the consumer, can not be oblivious to the interest of society and therefore the evaluation of its safety is an aspect of great importance for manufacturing and marketing.
In addition, both the Spanish legal system like the European Union regulate the general safety of products available to the consumer, at Real Decreto 1801/2003 and Directive 2001/95/EC of the Council respectively.
On the other hand, one of the major incidents that cause most of the complaints is the damage that occurs in the furniture during their distribution from the point of manufacture to the point of sale and from there to the end user.
In addition it is necessary that the furniture leaves the factory not only satisfying technical and safety requirements, but reaching the final consumer with all its characteristics intact.. For this purpose there the whole packaging and transport applied to furniture. However, many of these systems are not sufficiently developed or adapted to the real needs of the products to be transported, or are largely unknown, so it is necessary to further its development and the advantages
of its use.
Thus the realization of this project was, first, collect and analyze all existing regulations and documentation related to consumer safety and the end product itself during transport. From this analysis we can establish whether or not the most appropriate in each case, so that if it is able to propose changes or considerations for each product.
This allowed us to establish the conditions of use and safe transport appropriate in each case (according to the type of furniture used, places of use and materials) and to transfer this information to manufacturers and users of all types of furniture (both public and private).
