Investigation of structural and environmental behaviour to fire, habitat elements. COMPFIREWOOD 2
Investigation of structural and environmental behaviour to fire through tests and numerical simulation of wooden construction elements with functionality based on habitat. COMPFIREWOOD 2
The Project COMPFIREWOOD-2 is a continuation of the Project started in 2011, COMPFIREWOOD-1, in which are raised some reformulations and changes in the studied matter.
The overall objective of this project is to research and develop products, materials, technologies and processes for producing wood-based building elements, high performance behavior to resistance and reaction to fire, for use in habitat as well as covering elements, such as sectorization element, hollow enclosure of structural bearing capacity as wooden core columns and beams.
One of the specific objectives is the development of new composite materials based on polymeric matrices and / or cementitious wood (debris, waste, recycled), considering the sustainability and the environment.
The project also delves into the improvements of reaction to fire performance of wood and derived materials, using as additives different types of nanoparticles currently used in the field of improvement fire behaviour.
Information collected will be used for mathematical models to simulate the fire behaviour of different construction elements, allowing a better understanding of the process, the detection of the most important variables that interact in the system and understand the interrelationships enter these variables, allowing to anticipate the behaviour of wood based contractive elements, thereby saving time and resources.
