Increase vocational skills to face earthquake risk inside of building
The project aims to bring new approach to furniture industry via creating an education programme about nonstructural elements inside buildings against the earthquake risks which is a virgin area for furniture workers and manufacturers.
The main result of the project will be an e-learning system which will include design techniques of nonstructural elements such as chairs, windows, doors, sofas, tables, wardrobes, kitchens, mattresses for many different uses (e.g. households, schools, offices).
Orderly the project results will have cascade objectives;
-
The workers and manufacturers in furniture industry will be trained about the application techniques about non-structural elements inside the buildings against earthquake risks
-
Trained workers and manufacturers will apply these techniques to the buildings in European earthquake risk area and will get profit from it
-
This profit will increase the employability in the furniture industry
Application of these techniques will decrease the risks and the losses’ of life, properties and sustainability.
The project based on several major steps. First of all for clearly understanding of the target group in partner on non-partner countries in Europe, a survey will be realized by the partnership. Via this survey, it is aimed to define training approaches of the target group. What are their education level exactly, what kind of methodology they would like to use in learning, what are their computer knowledge and usage (home, on job, etc.) and what are their educational necessities exactly… At the same time the cultural and national differences will be set out on this step. What kind of materials are used in different countries in furniture design (walnut, oak, chestnut, hornbeam, birch, massive, plastic, metal, etc.), what are their resistance rates against different seismic shakes, what kind of seismic impacts they have…
The survey will be considered in three different approaches, one of them aims to understand workers/manufacturers social-economic, educational and occupational status, the other one aims to define different application techniques in furniture design in different cultures and countries included knowledge about materials and the last one aims to bring up the seismologic differences in different countries. The first and second one is mainly the task of European Furniture Manufacturers Federation which will be realized by the helps of all partnership and the last one will be prepared by the applicant which is one of the most prestigious seismologic institutes of Europe.
These results will be major indicators during the process of the production of the eLearning which is the main output of the project. The partnership is based on the partners who are expert in vocational training and training development so thanks to this experience and knowledge, the eLearning will be produced under the highlights of the survey results and combined knowledge of seismology institute. At the same time the good practices and know-how of the third country, Japan which is very well-known about damage mitigation applications and trainings in the world will be transferred to the project during the analysis stage to improve the quality of the product.
The production phase will be totally realized by cooperation of the target group members and after development of the eLearning tool and content it will be tested via a pilot group of target sector to define strong and weak points of it. Actually target group members will be always deeply involved in all steps of the project process which has main steps such as DEFINE →PLAN →DO →CHECK →REVIEW →REALIZE, thanks to the Federation and VET partners. According to the test results the product will be revised and will be ready for the final distribution.
It is necessary to mention that during the development of the eLearning content, one of the most important indicators will be the European Qualification Framework (EQF). One or two EQF level will be decided according to the survey results and the content will be developed by the training development experts and target group members according to these levels via considering national and cultural differences.
Therefore two major task of the project realization will be held during whole life of the project, one Is quality revision and other one is the dissemination and valorization of the project. There will be a lot of activities related with these major tasks which are explained detailed in the related work package of the application.
